"Having spent 4 wonderful years working in Kenya in the 80's I have always wanted to go back and a give a little in return.
ICT continues to help disadvantaged children worldwide. So I thought this challenge would be a great opportunity to
raise some money for an excellent charity, visit an orphanage to see how ICT is making a real difference the quality of childrens' lives,
re-visit some of the most spectacular scenery in the world and get fit. Anyone who has seen me on a bike without stabilisers will
know this will be a real challenge for me so please help me to meet my fundraising target." |

"Seeing the ad for Cycle Kenya 2007 in the Big Issue I just knew I had to do it; my brother was helping in Children's Home in Nanyuki last year and I have been fundraising for them. Now I have the opportunity of visiting them in Nanyuki where our cycle ride starts from and raising money for the ICT project. I can't wait!"

"A work friend put me up to this challenge, and he didn't have to ask me twice. I decided that I should do something for someone else and now I'm taking part in the first charity event I've ever done (but it won't be the last). The more I read into what I've signed up for the more I want to do it and make that small difference." |

"There has to be more to life than the faster, harder, ‘I want this yesterday’ mentality we deal with on a daily basis. With this in mind I purchased another copy of the Big Issue where my question was answered; a five day cycle across Kenya raising money for a project I truly felt I would make a difference. I phoned first thing the next morning, the rest is history..."

"I will once again immerse myself in the feel good factor. Getting fit by cycling in a new country, Kenya this time in November, will be a wonderful way to enjoy the countryside, the people and the camaraderie of fellow cyclists whilst at the same time contributing to a worthy cause by helping children affected by poverty / HIV/Aids via an extremely efficient charity (ICT). How much better can one feel? Come along, join us and have a great time." |

"The work ICT is doing around the world is great and the thought of being able to raise money for such a fantastic charity, visit Kenya, see an ICT project firsthand and get fit all in one made the decision to embark upon this ride an easy one. I hope my legs, heart and lungs feel the same on Day 8!"

"It's all the fault of Moira Bailey and that Big Issue ad that I'm here! But the more I've found out about the work that ICT does, the more convinced I have become that this is a great way to support a great organisation that is really committed to making a difference to childrens' lives. Plus it's an opportunity for an amazing adventure! Please sponsor any (or all!) of us, or come and join us! And I'm really not as miserable as my photo makes out...." |

“I stumbled upon ICT by chance 3 years ago and have continued to support them ever since. The reason for my continued support is principally down to 2 factors. Firstly, because the charity is run by such a small team, an unusually high proportion of all funds raised by ICT is actually spent on its projects rather than administration and overheads. Secondly, I have visited 2 of their projects and have seen for myself what an incredible difference this small charity actually makes to so many young people’s lives.
This will be my third ride for ICT and I cannot wait. Both Sri Lanka and Cambodia really were experiences of a lifetime but I have a feeling that Kenya will top them both!” |

"It is really important for me to get away from my desk and business meetings to to get to know ICT supporters. Actively participating in ICT's cycle challenges and raising money with the loyal help and support of my friends, family and colleagues helps me remember why I chose to work in the not-for-profit sector in the first place. Many of those who cycle with us are looking to complement their material success with a broader feeling of usefulness. There is no way to feel more useful than to connect to a wider world and visiting projects with some of the world's most vulnerable children in developing countries can help us to remember what role we all have to play in a wider world.
As ICT is such a small organisation, our supporters very quickly become aware of how much impact their bit of fundraising can actually have on ICT and the children that we support in Asia and Africa. We have people participating in our events that can raise £20,000; others who will raise £5000; and others who will struggle to raise the minimum. The success of each event is contingent on us having all these types of fundraisers 'doing their bit.' It is a great gift to be able to show our 'Friends' some of the projects that ICT supports, so they know, precisely, the kind of children who benefit from all the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into their training and fundraising." |

"I find ICT and their work incredibly inspiring, to me helping children is the most worthwhile cause in the world and I am so happy to be a part of this event. I may even get to meet the child I sponsor in Africa on this trip. I can't wait to help make a positive difference in these childrens' lives."

"'Life, are you living it? Have fun whilst making a difference'"
"That was it. I was hooked. I had just purchased a Big Issue magazine and, on browsing through I found an advert that seemed to jump out at me. The more I read the more I felt I had do it. I got really excited. It would even be in the month of my 52nd birthday and it seemed to me I couldn’t spend my birthday in a more extraordinary way.
The fact that ‘it’ involved cycling 411kms in Kenya in 5 days just seemed to make it even more compelling. I went online and read all about the project and the cycle ride and by that time it just felt like the right thing to do. Crazy or what?
Come and join us!" |

"I've been involved in fund raising charities for children, that use sports as a platform to raise money, for a few years now. A friend mentioned this challenge to me as being ''right up my street'' and it definitely is! Helping good causes and making a huge personal achievement - who could ask for more?!
Can't wait to see Kenya and the difference we have made." |

"I bought a copy of the Big Issue about a month ago and noticed the ICT advert with the words looming out "Life are you living it?" Having had a close friend who lived in Kenya die that week in tragic circumstances, I was immediately taken by the idea of doing something constructive and positive in memory of him. Also, as a Drama teacher, I have a great interest in helping & supporting children's lives whether it be in Britain or Africa! The ICT project struck me as an excellent idea especially after I had chatted to Rachel the fundraiser and found out more about the organisation and the projects they do all over the world. I am a keen cyclist and I worked in Zimbabwe in 1989 and know Southern Africa quite well. I have never been to Kenya and am looking forward to the challenge of the Abedare mountains! Most importantly, I hope the money raised will make a big difference to the lives of the Kenyan children that we will be supporting." |
